Some in our country ardently defend Israel, yes. We can say their numbers are not few; in fact, they are much more than meets the eye. Remember, on October 7th and the following two weeks, the mindset that had intellectually surrendered to Israel wanted to dominate the country's agenda. Those who opened the doors to the brutality that has been going on for 45 days, following the Aqsa Storm raids by Hamas, lined up saying, 'Israel will take very severe revenge.' They trampled on the 'they sold land' lie for days and willingly buried their feelings of compassion. I was initially very surprised by the abundance of those whose hearts beat in Tel Aviv. For example, the personal efforts of Fatih Altaylı, Oğuzhan Uğur, Nevşin Mengü, Can Ataklı, and Ümit Özdağ - no one can deny, including themselves. They defended Israel with all the representation and public opinion forces.   Defending Israel is certainly not a crime. At least not 'for now' there is no sanction. But there is no guarantee that there will be no punishment. In fact, considering the reactions from all over the world, Israel is already condemned in consciences in vast and diverse geographies. Not only Israel but also the United States and European states have left irreparable damage on societies. They deeply wounded consciences. They opened wounds that will never heal. While claiming to build civilization, their reputations were shattered. Their images were scattered. In their minds, they are now coded as countries and leaders who kill babies. Especially the younger generations have started to look at the modern world from scratch and with a very different perspective.     This wave of conscience is naturally rising in Türkiye as well. However, the clear stance displayed by the conservative segment has not pervaded the entire society. In the secular segment, which either defends Israel or refrains from defending Palestine, there is resistance. Regardless of who takes offense, they may resist, but I don't know how much longer they can resist. They are too late. Standing in the right place in history, finding common ground in the minimum, and breaking their own taboos for humanity; they miss the opportunity.   There are no longer leftists who were closely involved with the Palestinian cause in the 1960s, trained in the camps of the Palestine Liberation Organization and died in conflict against Israel. They have been purified from independence struggles, resistance to cultural invasion, and fundamentally anti-imperialist thoughts and a left has been constructed that has surrendered to imperialism. Moreover, I am talking about those who have become regulars in expensive neighborhoods and places, limiting freedom with their luxury lifestyle and brand dependence, and ultimately those who consider themselves left-wing because they vote for the CHP and similar parties. This segment is not small. They are big. On the contrary, they have the power to shape the public opinion in their hands. They dominate the cinema industry, TV series, and the advertising market. They have huge powers to dominate social media.   Even in the West, people have shaken and shown civil resistance against Israel in the face of the glorious resistance of Gaza. In contrast, the secular, secularist, and leftist circle in Türkiye remains silent with the discomfort of 'Where did this war come from now?' They are not aware, but they are losing heavily. They are unaware that they will also be the target of the anger towards Israel. Because standing against Israel and criticizing it is not yet considered equivalent to supporting Hamas. They are afraid of falling into the same front as the Muslims they see as religious, extreme, fanatical, and reactionary. Today, defending Israel or remaining silent about the genocide in Gaza is not yet seen as equivalent to defending the genocide perpetrated by the Nazis against the Jews. However, such a sociology will be formed over time. Israel and its supporters will not be able to escape this. I have been waiting for a spark, a sensitivity for days. I thought they would realize the necessity of appearing on the scene in support of Gaza when celebrities were boycotted on social media. I was mistaken. Look, there are thousands of disappointments on social media. We expected celebrities, to follow in the footsteps of Deniz Uğur Gülener, who dedicated her social media to the people of Gaza from the first day, to take a stance. But in vain. Let me end the article with the words of Gülener, who spoke to Sevda Dursun from Yeni Şafak yesterday: 'We cannot force anyone to do anything. Everyone may have their own reservations. However, here, as in the face of every incident, we must leave some things to Allah. Because if you are aware, in such difficult times, there is a beautiful purification in humanity. Perhaps everyone is discovering aspects of each other that they have not seen before. Every crisis is an opportunity, in this sense.'
