Speaking at the meeting, President Erdoğan drew attention to President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany’s visit to Türkiye last week, and said: “During our talks, we raised the racist attack carried out against our four brothers and sisters, two of them children, on March 25 in the same place after the Solingen arson attack, which took place 31 years ago. I told him that this attack should be completely clarified without leaving any dark spots, and the perpetrators should definitely be punished. We, as a country that have lost countless citizens due to separatist terror, cannot remain silent to these nefarious incidents.”
“THE SENSITIVITY DISPLAYED TOWARDS ANTI-SEMITISM IS NOT DISPLAYED TOWARDS ATTACKS CAUSED BY ISLAMOPHOBIA OR RACISM”
Pointing out that there is a discrimination in terms of combatting hate crimes in Europe, President Erdoğan noted: “Unfortunately, the sensitivity displayed towards anti-Semitism is not displayed towards attacks caused by Islamophobia or racism. What is more, these crimes are sought to be downplayed by calling them ‘kebab murders’, as has been the case in the NSU murders where security units were involved. Everyone knows that most of the racist attacks against Muslims and immigrants are covered up during even the investigation phase. The terrorist acts targeting the holy Quran are ignored under the pretext of ‘freedom of expression’.”
“WE ARE THE COUNTRY THAT PROVIDES THE BIGGEST AMOUNT OF HUMANITARIAN AID TO GAZA”
Underscoring that what is graver is that animosity towards Turks and Türkiye is fueled and urged in the recent years by some politicians and media, President Erdoğan went on to say: “These campaigns have one single goal, which is to silence us and Türkiye. Because, Türkiye has been displaying the most sagacious and the boldest stance on the Gaza crisis going on for 7 months, not just on the issues of Islamophobia or xenophobia. With nearly 50 thousand tons, we are the country that provides the biggest amount of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”
“WE FOLLOW WITH CONCERN THE HYPOCRITICAL POLICIES ADOPTED BY WESTERN OFFICIALS”
Further stressing that they always keep on the agenda the genocide Israel has been carrying out against Gazans, President Erdoğan noted that they voice the strong support they give to the Palestinian cause on every platform, and added: “We preserve our stance despite all the pressures of the global Zionist lobby. We continue to call oppressor an oppressor, and the oppressed the oppressed, regardless of their identity or faith. We follow with concern the hypocritical policies western officials, who have been lecturing us on democracy and freedom for years, have adopted regarding the Gaza massacres.
