President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at an opening ceremony held at Beştepe Nation’s Convention and Culture Center for the 369 facilities built by State Hydraulic Works (DSİ).
Underscoring that the climate change threatens water, which is the life itself, the most, President Erdoğan noted that as the climate crisis further deepens, it adversely affects water resources in terms of both quality and amount.
“WE ACTIVELY SUPPORT THE EFFORTS AIMED AT COMBATTING CLIMATE CHANGE”
Pointing out that the frequency and the magnitude of disasters in the entire world have increased with the climate change, President Erdoğan said that recently, the world is faced more often with floods, hurricanes, forest fires and droughts, and added: “Especially, the countries in the Mediterranean basin, including Türkiye, feels more the repercussions of the climate change.”
Stressing that quest for further comfort, consumption ambition and passion to limitlessly exploit resources open incurable wounds on environment, President Erdoğan stated that the entire humanity is paying the price of the mentality that regards water, soil, air, the green and forest as its own properties rather than things entrusted to them, and said: “Apparently, unless we take timely precautions, the bill we will face will further increase. With this understanding, we as Türkiye actively support the efforts aimed at combatting climate change, and assume leading roles in all the processes.”
“We have taken historic steps in agriculture and irrigation, as has been the case in every area in the past 21 years. We have focused on policies and investments, which use and manage water efficiently, and provide our glorious people with water in the best manner,” President Erdoğan said.
