Speaking at Türkiye-Spain Business Forum, President Erdoğan said: “We are keen to further develop our economic and trade relations with a win-win approach. Economy, trade and investments are among the fundamental pillars of our intergovernmental summit, which I will co-chair with Mr. Sánchez.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in Madrid for the 8th Türkiye-Spain Intergovernmental Summit, attended the Türkiye-Spain Business Forum with President Pedro Sánchez of the Government of Spain.
Underscoring that that the deep-rooted and robust relations between Türkiye and Spain are bolstered by the bold and visionary steps taken by the business world, President Erdoğan said: “You, our esteemed business people, have greatly contributed to the definition of our relations as a comprehensive partnership since 2021. In recent years, both the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflicts in our near geography have escalated the challenges against global trade. Our solidarity and cooperation are vital in the face of these challenges.”
“OUR TRADE VOLUME REACHED $19.2 BILLION LAST YEAR WITH A TEN-FOLD INCREASE”
“In an environment of various risks, we are keen to further develop our economic and trade relations with a win-win approach. Economy, trade and investments are among the fundamental pillars of our intergovernmental summit, which I will co-chair with Mr. Sánchez. The tremendous potential and dynamism of our trade and investment relations gives us the courage to go further to greater goals,” President Erdoğan said.
Our trade volume, which was around $2 billion before 2002, reached $19.2 billion last year with a ten-fold increase. Thus, we have almost reached our target of $20 billion. I believe that we will carry this volume much higher with your valuable contributions by working hand in hand. The fact that Spain is the sixth country investing the most in Türkiye with 740 companies and stocks of approximately $11 billion is essentially the result of this approach.
