President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Key Handover Ceremony of Post-Quake Houses in Kahramanmaraş. Underscoring that they have overcome the disaster of the century through the solidarity of the century, President Erdoğan said that there are few countries and societies that could stand as strong as Türkiye in the face of such a disaster, and noted: “We have all together seen and witnessed how desperate even the most-developed countries in the world had been for years in the face of similar disasters. Thanks be to Allah, after one year from the earthquakes we have achieved a picture whereby the debris has been removed, a significant progress has been made in the reconstruction of the cities and people have once again held on to life.” “We are not just constructing houses, streets or squares in the earthquake zone,” President Erdoğan stressed, and added: “We are building the infrastructure of the moves that would prepare our quake-hit cities for the future with all their production, employment and exportation. With this very understanding, we have launched a housing and employment project that would intensify defense industry investments, our country’s locomotive sector, in our quake-hit cities. With the plans made by the Directorate of Defense Industry, we are building an industrial zone for Roketsan in Hatay, Kırıkhan. We are putting into service a carbon fiber facility in Gaziantep with the support of TUSAŞ.” Further noting that they have built a big facility that will produce aerospace structural materials in Kahramanmaraş as well again with the support of TUSAŞ, President Erdoğan said: “Many aviation parts, including those of our unmanned aerial vehicle Anka, will be produced here from now on. In other words, we are making Kahramanmaraş our second defense, aviation and space industry hub after Ankara.”
