President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at a symposium held on a new constitution at Ulucanlar Prison Museum in Ankara.
“WE WILL NEVER STOP WORKING UNTIL WE PROVIDE OUR NATION WITH A NEW CONSTITUTION”
Underscoring that the biggest wound inflicted by the September 12 administration on the Turkish nation was the 1982 constitution, President Erdoğan stressed that although a number of amendments have been made in it, it is still a post-coup constitution, and added that they launched the works of a new constitution under the roof of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye almost 10 years ago.
Noting that their proposal of completely rewriting of the constitution could not be realized because of the uncompromising stance of the opposition, President Erdoğan stated: “Nevertheless, we have never gone back on our promise we gave our nation. We have never deviated from our ideal of providing our nation with a constitution they deserve.”
“We will never stop working until we provide our nation with a new constitution, which is an element of our goal of the Century of Türkiye,” President Erdoğan said.
“WE STAND WITH OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN LIBYA”
Following his address, President Erdoğan made remarks on the flood disaster in Libya, and wished Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in the disaster. “It seems that the casualties, along with the losses, will unfortunately further increase. Just as we as Türkiye have not left the Libyan people alone so far, today we are standing with our brothers and sisters in their trying times as well with all our means,” President Erdoğan stressed.
Noting that Türkiye stands not just with Libya but also with Morocco, which has been affected by an earthquake, President Erdoğan said three cargo planes have arrived thus far in Libya with aid supplies, and that they as Türkiye will continue to provide them with the necessary support from now on as well.
