WE DETERMINEDLY WALK TOWARDS OUR GOAL OF GROWTH THROUGH INVESTMENTS, EMPLOYMENT, PRODUCTION, EXPORTS AND CURRENT SURPLUS

Addressing citizens following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting, President Erdoğan said: “Our exports have reached 165 billion dollars over the first eight months of the year, and our annual exports 253.5 billion dollars. It is a pleasing development in terms of our current account deficit that the exports conducted in Turkish lira have increased to 361.6 billion liras over the first eight months of the year. Another good news is that the share of medium-high and high-tech products in total exports has exceeded 40 percent.”      President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex.  Making remarks on the agenda items of the cabinet meeting, President Erdoğan said: “On the last day of last month, our country’s growth figures for the second quarter of 2023 were announced.” Noting that Turkish economy, according to the adjusted figures, grew 3.9 percent in the first quarter of the year and ended the second quarter with 3.8 percent growth, President Erdoğan said: “Türkiye thus had the second highest growth rate in the OECD after Costa Rica, and the third in the G20 after China and Indonesia.”  “WE ENDED AUGUST WITH A RECORD HIGH EXPORTS FIGURE OF 21.6 BILLION DOLLARS” Noting that Türkiye witnesses a similar picture in the second quarter exports figures as well, President Erdoğan stated: “Türkiye, with a 2.3 percent increase, ranks the second among the three G20 member states that saw a rise in their exports of goods and services. We ended the month of August with a record high exports figure of 21.6 billion dollars.” President Erdoğan added: “Our exports have reached 165 billion dollars over the first eight months of the year, and our annual exports 253.5 billion dollars. It is a pleasing development in terms of our current account deficit that the exports conducted in Turkish lira have increased to 361.6 billion liras over the first eight months of the year. Another good news is that the share of medium-high and high-tech products in total exports has exceeded 40 percent. Our share in the global trade has also risen to as high as 1.04 percent level. Despite all this, I regret to note that we are yet to reach the level we desire in current account surplus. Inshallah we will also see those days soon.” “WE DETERMINEDLY WALK TOWARDS OUR GOAL OF GROWTH THROUGH INVESTMENTS, EMPLOYMENT, PRODUCTION, EXPORTS AND CURRENT SURPLUS”  Pointing out that Türkiye’s growth success despite the earthquake disaster and the contraction in global economy enabled the preservation of employment and production in the country, President Erdoğan went onto say: “Many international agencies revised upward their forecasts for our country’s growth in 2023. In fact, we have encountered subsequent revision efforts for a long time. International agencies, some of them in bad faith and some due to their inability to see our potential, announce low ratings in every area.” President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “Some in our country unfortunately support and encourage this distortion by spreading untrue materials. The figures that finally emerge reflecting Türkiye’s achievements in production and employment disrupt this game at the end of the day. However, it is a fact that the agencies that persist in the same mistake tarnish their own reputations. No matter what others say, we determinedly walk towards our goal of growth in our country through investments, employment, production, exports and current surplus.”
