President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at a ceremony held at Beştepe Nation’s Convention and Culture Center for the appointment of 1,102 judges and public prosecutors. Congratulating all the judges and public prosecutors on their appointment, President Erdoğan wished success to all of them. Drawing attention to their promise they made, when they took office, about raising Türkiye on the pillars of education, health, security and justice, President Erdoğan noted: “Despite the circumstances and challenges our country has been faced with over the past 21 years, we have firmly stuck to our promise. The numbers lay bare in an undeniable manner the progress Türkiye has in the past 21 years made in the quality of the justice services. We have increased by 2.5 times the number of judges and public prosecutors, which was 9,349 in 2002, to almost 24 thousand. The total number of the judicial staff has risen from 61 thousand to 190 thousand.” Underscoring that the biggest obstacle before Türkiye achieving its goals is the current constitution that is a product of a coup, President Erdoğan said: “To be honest, we cannot accept the fact that we are welcoming the centenary of our Republic with a post-coup constitution. We, inshallah, want to crown the intensive struggle we have been waging in the judiciary since 2002 with a civilian, libertarian and inclusive constitution.”
