Black Sea natural gas

Making a speech at the Commissioning Ceremony of Black Sea Natural Gas, President Erdoğan said: “I hope the Black Sea natural gas may be auspicious for our country and nation. On behalf of myself and my nation, I thank former Energy Minister Berat Albayrak and then Fatih Dönmez as well as TPAO Chairman and his team and all those who have contributed to any phase of this project, from its seismic research to exploration, drilling to pipe laying, and onshore facilities’ construction to the gas’ integration into the national system.” President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the Commissioning Ceremony of Black Sea Natural Gas at the Filyos Turkish Petroleum Port. Congratulating citizens on Eid al-Fitr at the beginning of his speech, President Erdoğan stated that the commissioning of the Black Sea gas only 32 months after its discovery marked a successful conclusion in a long and tough journey. Noting that the Sakarya field will provide 10 million cubic meters of natural gas in the first phase and that this figure will subsequently rise to 40 million cubic meters with the drilling of additional wells, President Erdoğan said: “We will be able to meet nearly 30 percent of our country’s total annual need once we reach full capacity. This project will not only help us to substantially reduce our country’s foreign dependency in natural gas but it will also make Filyos and Zonguldak an important energy, technology and logistics base.” President Erdoğan stated: “I hope the Black Sea natural gas may be auspicious for our country and nation.
