One of the most critical questions for Türkiye post-earthquake disaster was the approach the U.S. and European countries would take. Israel should be included among these as well. The popular opinion that there is no room for morality in international relations applies particularly to West European countries that act in accordance with their colonialist and imperialist history. It is proven by various experiences that these countries will have no good intentions for Türkiye. Thus, taking into consideration that the earthquake disaster will cause weakness, the countries in question may take certain steps. Surely Türkiye is prepared for such moves, but we should have also known to be careful about the messages given to the world since the first day of the earthquake. Hence, Türkiye did everything in its power to avoid appearing as a weak country.   The approach taken by the individuals and groups within, trying to position themselves in accordance with the likely results of outside pressures was quite important as well. In fact, it could have been possible to get an idea about the positions determined by following solely Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) members’ social media accounts for the sake of simplicity. Needless to say, following these accounts will not be enough. What we want to reveal is the reflections of this mindset, and FETÖ is just one part of this. The individuals and groups trying to create a position within through foreign support, move in much broader relationship networks.   The general outline of the opinions voiced by opposition groups after the earthquake disaster are as follows: According to them, Türkiye identified objectives exceeding its existing capacity, and this is a real problem. While these groups refrain from very openly expressing for whom Türkiye’s objectives are an issue, they do describe the problem quite openly. Second, these groups dispute, “the destiny plan as an irrational justification with no place in science.” Though the expression “destiny plan” was mentioned by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, it reflects a form of belief. By identifying the destiny plan expression as an irrational justification with no place in science, they purposely depicted a position against intelligence and science. This opposition shows the position they are trying to take. Third, the same groups brought into question the claim that “hate speech was developed by creating the foreign powers perception.” Of course, “foreign powers” refers to the U.S., European countries, and Israel, as mentioned earlier. Thus, the opposition groups in Türkiye take advantage of every opportunity to bring up the idea that Türkiye should not move away from the West’s axis.   It is very clear that the opposition groups’ criticisms need to be analyzed. We cannot possibly provide a lengthy analysis here, yet when we bring together Türkiye’s great objectives, the foreign powers' perception, and the countries listed, we have a picture.   This picture needs to be analyzed separately. Our focus today is the opposition formed through intelligence and science. As known, this opposition is a heritage of the enlightenment era, which peaked with the French Revolution. The form of discourse used by the opposition groups in Türkiye indicates that they accept this opposition. Surely there may be different answers to what extent this discourse is internalized, however, it can be said that they are open to the transformative effect of the accepted opinion. But we cannot deny that their objective is to make a revolution. The fact that they have been using the same concepts for almost 150 years is a remarkable continuity in this respect. But are these revolutionary ideas like in the past?   I answered this question in the past and stated that despite wanting to make a revolution, they lack revolutionary ideas. I still hold the same opinion. The West is the main axis of the opinions voiced by opposition groups, including the anti-intelligence and science claims. These ideas provide an identity to the discourses presented by the political parties gathered around the table of six. Yet, they are no longer considered revolutionary in the West either. As a matter of fact, at a time when the Eurocentric world has become history, discussing processes leading to a revolution in other regions is out of the question.   All the pain and suffering caused by the earthquake disaster is ours as a nation. If we want to prevent any other pain and suffering, we are obliged to see all the mistakes made in the past and assume responsibility. Any hope for the future will arise from this sense of responsibility. Those who pull away to avoid taking on any responsibility cannot possibly have anything realistic to say about this country.
